Complying Deal Equity Funds                     During the turn of the century, the term globalization has been used in a lucrative way to understand recent rapid changes of the world economy. Even though there are numbers of interpretation and theories of globalization, economic globalization theory is the most predominant perspective used in various field of study. This paper, however, will present a more complex globalization theory from sociological school of thoughts and apply it into the understanding of the current dynamic of health and illness issues in Southeast Asia, in particular. In recent year, consumption of health care products has been increasing along with the rising of health consciousness among the world population. People pay more attention to their well being. They take more supplementary, more exercise, and more preventive care. These preventive and pro-active health behaviors are becoming common picture among the middle class around the world. Reasons for this are widely contributed to the expansion of global market and media. This phenomenon somehow is recognized only as a health consumerism. However, globalization has a paradoxical nature that brought both positive and negative impact to the people behavior and consciousness. At the age globalization, we can find that people are becoming more vulnerable to numerous kinds of illness and there are more incrasing demand in health care services. The emergence of global health consumerism may in fact a revelation of global vulnerability.

Business Equity Funds                     This Research is aimed to understand conceptualization of rights and equity in health from Thai social and cultural perspectives. First, the research is exploring how the Thai people construct meaning of rights and equity in general and how it is applied to health and health care. Civil societies are selected for the study based on their local establishment and their concern for local social, health, economics and environmental problems. Selected members of these organization are interviewed to represent diverse social and economic background of people in the local areas. Focus group interview is applied to bring people opinion, concenptualization, and interpretation of the terms rights and equity, and to explore how they see right and equity in health fit in this frame of thoughts. Secondly, this research tries to understand people perception of their current equity in health and their actual needs as well as expectation for better health care. Research finding reveal that people in Thailand tend to merge between what is rights and responsibility, being rights and being fair, as well as between individual rights with communitys rights. However, in a more educated urban population, the term rights was interpreted toward the term individual rights. The notion of equity from the Thai perspectives is based on cultural norms and morality, rather than economic measurement. Result of this research will be used for guiding direction for health care reform in Thailand.
