New Web site makes recruiting from Wisconsin universities easier

Private Equity Fund Of Funds By WTN News • 06/30/04 MADISON - Companies in Wisconsin and beyond have been given a new Web-based tool that makes it easier to identify potential employees and interns among the graduates and students of Wisconsins universities and colleges.

A new Web site brings together the career services offices at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and provides links to the career services resources of the other four-year campuses of the UW System, the Wisconsin Technical College System and many of the private and independent universities and colleges in Wisconsin.

The Web site was created by the UW-Madison Office of Corporate Relations as part of its mission to link the resources of the university to the needs of the business community.

One of the areas in which companies most frequently request assistance is identifying and making contact with students, graduates and alumni who may be available for the job market," said Charles Hoslet, managing director of OCR.

Employers will now be able to log on to a single Web site and get information on how to contact potential employees and interns at UW-Madison, as well as other Wisconsin universities and colleges, he said.

Given that some Wisconsin employers may seek qualified students and graduates of UW campuses near their places of business, Hoslet said it was only logical to provide career-office links to those campuses.

"While UW-Madison offers the largest pool of potential employees and interns," he said, "there are thousands of other equally qualified people coming out of UW System universities, the state's excellent technical colleges and the private schools of our state with degrees and certifications in a wide range of disciplines."

Each year at UW-Madison alone, more than 9,000 people receive undergraduate and graduate degrees from a total of 13 schools and colleges.

"During the school year, there are upwards of 40,000 students on the Madison campus, providing a large pool of potential interns and co-op program participants, and part-time and full-time employees," said Noel Radomski of the Office of Corporate Relations. Radomski developed the new Web site in conjunction with career services offices at UW-Madison and at other Wisconsin universities and colleges.

"This new site makes it easier for companies to locate and work with the many career services resources that can help them make connections with the great number of students, graduates and alumni who are available for today's workplace," he added.

The new site also provides a link to the Wisconsin Alumni Association's job posting site, Badger Access.
